Happy Thanksgiving From Forest Lane Dental

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday!  What a great thing to take some time to reflect on the things in life that mean the most to us- our family and friends, our health and well-being, good food!

This year, Dr. Jack Burroughs wishes to express his genuine gratitude to all his patients whose trust and confidence are appreciated beyond measure.  The patients of Forest Lane Dental make coming to work a joy each and every day.  How fortunate we are to have the opportunity to do what we love to do each day.

This Thanksgiving holiday, may your blessings and good fortune be plentiful, and may the coming year bring you love, peace and joy.

Happy Thanksgiving from the team at Forest Lane Dental!

Forest Lane Dental Gives Thanks

With the Thanksgiving Holiday right around the corner, the team at Forest Lane Dental in Dallas is thinking about the upcoming holiday season and counting the blessings we have received this year.  This month, Facebook is full of daily posts about thankfulness, and we have enjoyed reading about all the things great and small that we all have to be thankful for.  What better time of year to express our great appreciation for all the wonderful patients who brighten our days with their beautiful smiles?

Our Dental Patients Make Us Smile!

Creating beautiful smiles is what we do best at Forest Lane Dental.  The old saying that if you "do what you love you will never work a day in your life" rings true for us.  There is nothing more gratifying in dentistry than seeing a patient's life transformed through the restoration of their dental health.  Dental problems can be painful as well as unattractive.  When we have the opportunity to transform a person's dental health, it often has a much deeper effect.  Poor dental health can have an impact on overall health as well as self-confidence.  For Dr. Jack E. Burroughs, there is simply nothing more rewarding than seeing a patient go from avoiding smiling and social situations to having a bright, beautiful smile.

We Are Thankful For Your Referrals

We are lucky to receive personal referrals from our patients every day at Forest Lane Dental.  The greatest compliment we can receive is the referral of a friend or family member, and we are thankful that our patients are pleased enough with the dental care they receive to tell others about us.  Thank you for sharing us with your loved ones.  We genuinely appreciate your trust and confidence!

Relationships Matter To Us

Many of our patients have been with us for a very long time.  One of the best things about working in dentistry is having the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our patients.  We get to share in your joys and life events.  Over the years, we have enjoyed sharing baby pictures, graduations, weddings and more.  Our patients are important to us, and we are honored to count you as a part of our dental family.

We Wish You A Happy Thanksgiving

Dr. Burroughs, Laura and the whole team at Forest Lane Dental wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and a joyful and beautiful holiday season.  This Thanksgiving, we are giving thanks for you, the patients who make coming to work a joy every day.

Dental Insurance- Use It Or Lose It

Halloween is the unofficial beginning of the holiday season- and the end of the year!  At Forest Lane Dental, it is also a reminder that dental benefit years are about to expire.  Most dental plans allow their members specified funds from which their dental claims are paid.  If the funds are not used by the end of the year, they disappear- poof!  The same is true for health savings accounts and medical flex accounts.  When it comes to dental insurance, and incomplete dental treatment, the name of the game from November until the end of December is "Use It Or Lose It".

Taking advantage of Dental Insurance Benefits

Cost is a big issue for dental patients, when faced with the need for restorative or cosmetic dentistry.  Good planning can help make dental treatments such as crowns and bridges more economical.  Here are a few tips:

Plan Your Dental Treatment in Stages.

If you need extensive dental work, plan it in two stages.  Since your dental benefits renew on January first, it makes sense to start on part of a dental treatment plan this year, utilizing the benefits available for 2013, and then begin the second phase of treatment after the first of the year.  This way, you can maximize your dental coverage and reduce the chance that you will deplete your dental benefits before your treatment is complete.

Stay In Your Dental Network

Your dental plan has member dentists, like Dr. Jack Burroughs, who are preferred providers under your dental insurance plan.  One major benefit that you might not be aware of, is that in addition to your annual maximum for dental funds, you also receive reduced fees by going to a dental network provider.  That means, even if you deplete your dental funds, you still get a discount on services.

Plan For Necessary Dental Work

Now is a good time to see Dr. Burroughs.  If you need cosmetic or restorative dental work, insurance will not cover the cost 100%.  Planning in advance for the portion of the fee that will be your responsibility can help make the cost easy to bear.  If you know in advance what the cost of dental work will be, you can plan to make contributions to your HSA or other medical spending account in order to cover the cost.  Since most of these plans are funded with pre-taxed dollars, it's like getting an additional discount.

Get a Dental Check Up

The best way to save money on dental care is to keep your mouth so healthy that you don't need it!  In addition to good dental hygiene at home, see Dr. Burroughs at least every six months for a dental check-up and a good professional dental cleaning.  This basic maintenance can help prevent serious dental problems like tooth decay and gum disease as well as detect problems early while they are small and easier to treat.
