Woman Stabs Her Husband- For Snoring!

Is this headline real or a fake?

Snoring and Sleep Apnea
It turns out that an Arkansas woman was recently charged with stabbing her husband in his sleep because of his snoring!  As outlandish as it sounds, snoring and sleep apnea are extremely disruptive conditions which affect not only the "snore-er" but also their partner.  Sleep apnea and snoring disrupts normal sleep patterns, leading to sleep-deprivation, poor sleep and even psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Snoring An Sleep Apnea Treatment

Luckily, treatments exist which can help tame the symptoms of snoring and sleep apnea.  Dr. Jack E. Burroughs of Forest Lane Dental Dallas knows this very well, and not just because he provides treatment for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.  Dr. Burroughs suffers with this condition himself, which is what led him to becoming an expert in dental sleep apnea treatment.

Traditional methods of treating sleep apnea in adults involves the use of a C-PAP machine, which can be bulky, noisy and uncomfortable.  Surgical procedures have also been recommended for patients suffering with the condition.  Dr. Burroughs offers a more comfortable alternative, in the form of a custom dental appliance, which provides relief from the physical symptoms of sleep apnea, but also facilitates in preventing the cause.

Sleep Apnea and Your Health

In sleep apnea and snoring, breathing is interrupted due to a collapse in the muscles in the airway.  This results in disrupted sleep patterns, loud snoring and periods of not breathing (apnea).  Health and psychological conditions often arise in people with obstructive sleep apnea due to the patient's inability to achieve restful sleep.  Conditions such as high blood pressure, stroke and depression are common among sleep apnea patients.  Treatment involves mechanically maintaining an open airway in order to prevent breathing disturbances during sleep.

Dr. Burroughs utilizes a specialized treatment which is more comfortable and easier to comply with than the traditional C-PAP machine.  In dental sleep-apnea treatment, a custom made appliance is made which repositions the jaw and helps maintain an unobstructed airway during sleep.  Patients find that this method of treatment is comfortable, easy to use and very effective.  In fact, Dr. Burroughs uses the appliance himself.
